The detail.
What is the Moonshine University Whisk(e)y Workshop?
The Whisk(e)y Workshop is the two-day intermediate course at Moonshine University that examines whisky from around the world — Irish, Scotch, Canadian, American, plus the new generation of craft whiskeys made from non-traditional grains. The curriculum walks classifications, production techniques, maturation styles, and the standards of identity for each category, with side-by-side context that explains how every regional tradition relates to every other.
Hands-on, small-scale product development on table-top distillation lets attendees experiment with malting, smoking, mashing, fermenting, and traditional + alternative aging before moving onto the full distillery equipment. Sensory sessions throughout teach the structure for guiding consumers through an informative whisky evaluation.
Moonshine University at the Distilled Spirits Epicenter in Louisville (founded 2012 by David Dafoe of Flavorman) is the Kentucky Distillers’ Association’s official spirits education provider. The Whisk(e)y Workshop is the course that puts the world of whisky in one room.
