Why We’re Going

Where we are.

Both of us are logging in for the Bourbon Women + J. Mattingly staving session. The wood-finishing arc is the kind of detail nobody explains until somebody decides to and then it’s obvious. Bourbon Women is where this kind of education actually happens reliably.

About The Event

The detail.

What is the Staving Science session?

A Bourbon Women virtual session with J. Mattingly 1845 on the staving process — the cooperage step where a barrel’s wood is reassembled to influence the finishing arc. The session is the bourbon-nerd version of ‘how the sausage gets made,’ applied to wood.

Bourbon Women is the national consumer organization founded in 2011 by Peggy Noe Stevens — advancing women in American whiskey through education, mentorship, networking, and community. Bourbon Women’s education programming consistently goes deeper than the standard distillery tour.
