Drunken Unicorn is John and Shauna’s bourbon education company, run out of the tasting room in Leavenworth, Kansas. The classes serve two audiences: beginners getting their first real introduction to American whiskey, and intermediate drinkers ready to advance their palate from preference into vocabulary.

Bottle Share night runs the curriculum sideways — students bring a pour worth talking about, the host’s library fills the gaps, and the room walks through the bottles together. The format is for drinkers who already have a few bottles open at home and want to learn how to read what other people are pouring.
